Thursday night at Ford Field, the Detroit Lions opened NFL preseason action with a 23-3 win over the New York Jets. The Drive’s Doug Warren was on scene covering the action and grabbed an exclusive interview with New York Jets rookie linebacker, and former MSU Spartan, Taiwan Jones.
Jones played the entire second half, collecting 2 tackles (one on special teams). He also called singals for the Jets defense for much of the second half in his first NFL game.
Detroit Lions head coach, Jim Caldwell, was pleased with his team’s performance:
Lions’ QB, Matt Stafford, played just one series, going 2-for-2 for 57 yards – including a 35-yard TD to Golden Tate which gave the Lions the early lead.
The star of the night was Lions rookie RB, Ameer Abdullah, who toted the pigskin seven times for 67 yards – including a 45-yard scamper in the first half.
